Our name is inspired by the Swedish word “Dyster”, which means dark or gloomy, but we’re anything but dreary. In fact, we’re on a mission to brighten up the fashion industry with our eco-friendly, fair trade, and vegan clothing.
Our journey began in 2020 when we saw a need for a fashion label that could offer an alternative to fast fashion. We wanted to create something that was more than just clothing – something that reflected our values of sustainability, transparency, and ethical production. And so, DYSTER ARTELIER was born.

If we think about clothing, cotton immediately comes to mind. The fibers are outstandingly suitable to wear directly on your skin.
The conventional cultivation of cotton leads to massive environmental and health problems, which causes problems for the working people and the environment. The people even in a double sense, once the workers, but also the customers in the shop.
440 liters of water are used for a T-shirt, and huge amounts of chemicals are brought onto the fields, as the plant is very susceptible to pests and mold. It is therefore not surprising that a third of the finished shirt, i.e. approx. 51g, is the remains of the chemicals used previously. This means that not only the workers are exposed to them, but you also wear them directly on your skin.
Currently 99% of the cotton is produced in this way – i.e. only 1% comes from certified organic cultivation. Of this 1%, however, only a fraction is produced under fair conditions.
It’s time to make a change.
Over 90% less groundwater is used to grow organic cotton. Chemicals are also not used. In addition, the workers are paid fairly and are not forced to buy genetically modified seeds and the necessary pesticides.
This means that the workers can send their children to school and they don’t have to work in the fields.
In order to ensure ecological cultivation as well as fair working conditions and fair wages, you should always pay attention to the „GOTS“ seal. It is subject to the strictest evaluation criteria and can therefore be classified as very trustworthy.

We use the DTG (direct-to-garment) process to print our designs directly onto the fabric, which ensures a high-quality and long-lasting result. Depending on the design, we also offer classic screen printing. All of our inks are water-based and biodegradable, free from toxins and animal ingredients, and suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
We take our responsibility towards the environment and our customers seriously, which is why we meet the strict safety requirements of Oeko-Tex 100, GOTS-3V (Global Organic Textiles), and the AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists). We are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as possible. That’s why we send all our goods in plastic-free packaging, to help prevent further plastic pollution in the oceans. We believe that every little step counts when it comes to protecting the planet.
While we can’t yet offer completely climate-neutral shipping, we’ve taken steps to offset the emissions generated by our deliveries. We use DHL’s GoGreen program, which supports climate protection projects aimed at neutralizing the transport-related greenhouse gases. We understand that this is not a perfect solution, but it’s the best option available to us at the moment.
